About

"Art for people who love nature's untamed beauty."

Brenda is a visual artist from Mayo in the West of Ireland. She celebrates the beauty within the vastness and quiet isolation of nature—the rugged terrains, theatrical skies, and the enchanting, hypnotic draw of the sea. With a degree in Fine Art she loves to experiment with various forms of artmaking including oil painting, printing, and digital art. Coastal locations are her main source of inspiration and Brenda has visited many of the landmarks and signature points along the Wild Atlantic Way. Capturing her compositions with a sketch book and a camera, she brings these back to her design studio in the West of Ireland where she creates colourful contemporary paintings and prints.

Brenda believes....

Nature is an important way to gain perspective on our lives. There’s an intimacy and intensity in the vastness of nature that restores our sense of inner freedom.

There is an infinite yet temporal value to water that we instinctively understand as we are drawn to its presence – the wide expanse of the sea, the stillness of a lake, a tumbling wave, a cascading waterfall, or a flowing river.

She loves and enjoys the creative process and believe when passion fuels your work, it radiates through to the finished piece.

“When the dreamer really experiences the word “immense,” he sees himself liberated from his cares and thoughts, even from his dreams. He is no longer shut up in his weight, the prisoner of his own being.”

Gaston Bachelard

Painting process...

Oil paint is used for the intensity and purity of the colour mixes.

The paintings are built up in layers and this helps to create a richness and depth of colour in the work guaranteeing the retention of their vibrancy for a lifetime.

Brenda uses quality, renewable painting surfaces including wood panels and cotton or linen over wooden stretcher bars.
